Climatic conditions and functional traits affect spider diets in agricultural and non‐agricultural habitats worldwide

Spiders are dominant predators in terrestrial ecosystems and feed on prey from the herbivore detritivore subsystem (dual omnivory) as well other (intraguild predation). Little is known about how global change potentially affects importance of different groups predator diets. In this meta-analysis we identify impact climatic conditions, land-use types functional traits spider species relative Hemiptera, Araneae Collembola We use a dataset including 78 publications with 149 observational records diet composition 96 agricultural non-agricultural habitats 24 countries worldwide. The Hemiptera was not affected by conditions particularily high smaller habitats. most important for actively hunting, larger small, hunting regions higher temperature seasonality. Spider their also had importances lower prey. Future increases seasonality predicted several worldwide may go along an increasing which related to intraguild here. Two drivers many world (increasing ongoing conversion land) both hold potential increase however show contrasting responses these two drivers.
